See their letter (591K Graphic Opens In Own Window)
This letter arrived today along with a very cool window decal -- already installed. The letter has had a few items removed after it was scanned for security reasons but is otherwise unaltered. We're pleased we're becoming so popular on Google. For those of you who use the Firefox 'WOT' WebOfTrust plug-in, we'd appreciate you rating us.

2 October 2009: News: Nucor Steel Files for Protectionist Duty
Read our memo (MS Word Required)
This is key and initial objections are due within a week. If you care about American jobs, you need to act. This absurd claim has the potential to affect every single business in the United States that uses any bolt or any nut. Costs will increase 145% or more overnight and so will the costs of products that use them. It could be your job. Help all of American industry. Nucor lost the initial filing 7 November 2009, but an appeal has been filed.

22 May 2008: News: Pricing Memo
Read our memo (MS Word Required)
This is another draft internal memo. It's related to the entry below (17 March) and explains further escalating prices and costs despite all reasonable logic.

17 March 2008: News: Pricing Memo
Read our memo (MS Word Required)
Many people have been asking why prices are going up when demand is going down. That's not an easy answer. There are many unique factors contributing to these prices. Here's a copy of an internal memo explaining my views on the matter. This is neither news nor a press release, but more my commentary to our sales staff. I thought you might be interested in this.

29 June 2007: News: Duty Draw-Down Crisis
Read our memo (MS Word Required)
There is a shipping crisis resulted in an unprecedented back-up in shipping out of all Chinese ports. Lines of traffic extend many miles and containers are being delayed weeks. Here is a series of five photos taken the morning of 29 June 2007 several miles from the port of Shanghai. Having been there several times, I can tell you this is extraordinary. Photos (1) and (2) and (3) and (4) and (5) and (6). Photos open in their own window and are 50k to 80k each -- photos supplied by one of our vendors.

19 June 2007 : Press Release: Interstate Goes Green: Green Power Bought
Read our memo (MS Word Required)
Interstate Screw has joined Sunshine Energy and bought Green Power to cover 5000kwh per month in an effort to make our community, country, and planet a better place to live.

12 January 2007: News: IFI Standards 6th Edition vs 7th Edition
Read our memo (MS Word Required)
There are many people noticing the head size of some of their fasteners have changed. Sadly, it's not a manufacturing flaw. We feel the standards body goofed, but it's too late to change. This document was updated 30 January 2007.

14 September 2006: News: Drill Bits and Tapcons®
Read our memo (MS Word Required)
There is some confusion about Tapcons® and the use of drill bits that are not supplied from the factory. Here are our comments.

19 June 2006: Press Release: We Donate Nearly $20,000 to Cancer Research!
Read our memo (MS Word Required)
Interstate and our employees collected nearly $20,000 worth of computer equipment to help support Breast Cancer Research and victims.

16 June 2006: News: RoHS from a customer Point of View.
Read our memo (MS Word Required)
Many of our customers are demanding RoHS now without looking at the extraordinary short term costs (price and delivery delays). We have taken this opportunity to educate them.

14 April 2006: News: Massive Shortages and Price Hikes on Horizon.
Read our memo (MS Word Required)
In 2004 there were massive shortages and price hikes (Read our 2004 memo) -- and we're expecting them again; sadly, we expect them to be much, much worse. Some metals are at forty-year price highs (for example: copper which is used in brass and bronze bolts plus extension cords). Other metals are on allocation or worse, not available at all. For an understanding on this, check out the latest on steel at http://www.cruspi.com/ and stainless prices at http://www.nickelalloy.com/ as well as http://www.kitcometals.com/. Pay special attention to T-316 Stainless, T-410 Stainless, and Zamak alloys. Keep informed on this important topic!

1 January 2006: News: RoHS is coming (Zinc/Cr3 v Zinc/Cr6).
Read our memo (MS Word Required)
What's RoHS? In Europe, the EU has determined that Zinc Hexavalent (Cr6) is a carcinogen and thus dangerous. A better and more environmentally friendly coating Zinc Trivalent (CR3) is being mandated. Many US companies are assuming that this won't affect them. In the long term, they're wrong. Nothing containing Zinc Hexavalent Cr6 can be shipped to Europe so companies here that sell there will ultimately be affected. Zinc Trivalent Cr3 is more money, but we're being proactive and all fasteners (except Drywall Screws) we order from overseas starting 1-1-06 are being ordered with Zinc Cr3 instead of Cr6. These boxes will be clearly marked.

31 August 2005 : Statement: Dell Sucks.
Read our letter to Dell (PDF)
We at Interstate Screw Corporation will never buy another Dell again. Do you want to hear the story about how they let us down when it most mattered? In fact, we still haven't heard back from them despite repeated promises. Read the PDF file above for more information.
