We at Interstate Screw Corporation believe that protecting your family and property is important. That's why we stay open for as long as possible when a hurricane approaches and also in its aftermath. We were open for business less than 48 hours after Hurricane Andrew even though we had no phones and no electricity -- we are fully equipped to run our business the old fashioned way: with pen and paper. We'll do everything we can to help the public as long as we don't risk the lives of our employees. The employees who wait on you during an incipient storm have volunteered to be there to help you. Please be patient and understanding during these trying times. We know the lines are long as a storm approaches, sometimes exceeding one hour. But, don't worry, we'll do the best we can, besides we're usually well prepared and have ample stock of all supplies. We will give you as much help as possible, but come prepared knowing what you want -- for legal liability reasons we cannot give you engineering advice. As storms approach, we remain open as long as it's safe for our employees to remain in the building. When we feel it's getting unsafe, we will shut our counter doors and everyone inside at that time will be waited on before we close. Call ahead for our special operating hours in the event of a storm -- we are often open on weekends and holidays during a crisis if weather permits. If you've visiting our site because you are under a Hurricane Watch or Hurricane Warning, or if there is an active storm in the vicinity, please view this window as it will have special announcements! (This is our pop-up window from our main page and during other times, it will contain advertising instead of storm related news.) During the 48 hours prior to a storm, we waive minimum orders and are open to all members of the public, though we still sell only in full box quantities. Our goal is to serve and protect the community and not harm or gouge them. Contrary to perception, most fastener companies do not use the threat of a storm as a profit center. Although some of our competitors do this, we feel that is unconscionable. We do not raise our prices as a result of the storm and often lower them to help members of our community. In fact, prior to Hurricane Frances we sold all of our batteries, flashlights, and duct tape at as much as 50% below our regular selling price. We have everything you need to hang plywood and most shutters: Tampins®, Tapcons®, Lag Shields, Washer Based Wing Nuts (and drivers), Hanger Bolts, Bolts, Nuts, Power Tools, Extension Cords, PanelMates®, Drill Bits, Duct Tape, and more. We encourage you to pick a re-useable system when installing plywood; although it takes more time to install the first time, you will be able to use the plywood again and subsequent installations can be done in less than half-the time in addition to saving you money. If you don't want to come to our location, and you have time we can ship your product via UPS (minimum order requirements apply to shipments). Please keep in mind that when a storm is threatening, UPS may curtail or suspend pick-ups and deliveries. If you prefer, we can refer you to a local hardware store that has recently purchased hurricane items from us; we keep records of this information. We encourage you to follow the links below as well as to look at our other hurricane pages listed in the index to your left.
