International Vendor
For Import INTO the USA
Information Page

INTRODUCTION:
You should read the information above, but much of that won't apply to you. However the artwork there may be of some use. Please note there are separate instructions for shipments to FLORIDA and shipments to MINNESOTA. Please be sure you examine the correct instructions.

DOCUMENT RELEASE INFORMATION :
We prefer to have everything express released. We ask that al of our suppliers request for the booking agent that Express / Seaway Bills of Lading be issued instead of Original Bills of Lading. This creates far less work and far less expense for us. It just creates more work and an extra set for us to follow up and track down an OBL. If you do not express release you will be required to send at your expense two sets of documents via express to the USA: One to us and one to our broker.

If we ask you to consolidate freight for two different warehouses, the invoices and packing slips are prepared separately and the appropriate party will pay for their share of the material. The BOL is consigned to the party that has the most total weight. All original documents are delivered to the consignee. We will take care of getting the documents to the other parties. Please put three sets of documents in three separate envelopes (consignee, second party, and forwarder) and then put them both in one big envelope and express it to the consignee. You must still use Express / Seaway Bills of Lading.

SAMPLE DOCUMENTS (FOR MINNESOTA ONLY):
We have a number of documents that are designed for our vendors. If you are not a vendor or prospective vendor, you MUST NOT access these forms. These documents are for MINNESOTA shipments only.

OTHER DOWNLOADS:
See above for downloads with current artwork.

SAMPLE PACKING FOR OVERSEAS VENDORS
(TO FLORIDA):

Please note the photos may not reflect current artwork. Use the current artwork files as noted above. If you are not a vendor or prospective vendor, you MUST NOT access these items.

  • This is how a box should be prepared. All boxes for Florida must include our logo on two opposing sides (black ink) and warning and country of origin on top (black ink or red ink). The box can be white or brown colour, but brown is preferred. This is a series of five (5) images:
    1. Make Empty Printed Box and insert Bag (228k)
    2. Same Box with Top View (232k)
    3. Fill The Box (416k)
    4. Seal the Bag (260k)
    5. Tape Box Shut (staples or plastic banding acceptable) [268k]
  • BOX PRINTING DETAILS: Close up of top flap of box(1) and (2). [1.9MB JPG and 31K JPG] This shows the printing on top box flap. It's okay for this to be in either black or red ink. The correct text for the top of the box is as follows: "When using any screw, nail, or any other fastener, safety glasses must always be worn. Do NOT put parts in mouth." You may not use a sticker -- the box must be printed. On one bottom flap [12k JPG] of the box in one corner in sixteen (16) point type print "Made in XXXX" (replace XXXX with the country of origin) and also print "Open Other Side" on both bottom flaps near the centre seam. It would be adviseable for you to e-mail us a PDF of the box artwork before printing.
  • Close up of box stacking. [1.8MB JPG] This shows how boxes are banded if they are heavy, so that stacking doesn't break the boxes. If used, banding can be plastic, fibre, or metal. Metal bands are accepted for FLORIDA only.
  • Close up of label#1 and label#2. [1.8MB JPG, 440K JPG] This shows how the label uses whole side of box and has all proper information. The label must appear on two opposing sides of the box -- the two sides without logo. The minimum label dimensions are 3" x 5" (75mm x 125mm). Please note the weight should be in POUNDS and not KILOGRAMS.
  • Close up of box side. [2.0MB JPG] The artwork takes up the whole side of the box. It's one colour only -- black ink; if you want to use the two colour version, it's okay with us. You may not use a sticker -- the box must be printed.
  • Close up of box and skid #1. [1.9MB JPG] This shows how boxes are stacked with the labels facing out. Also note that the skid is all wood and not assembled plywood. This adds strength for transport and storage. Pallets should be sealed and shrinkwrapped. Screws inside the box should be in a plastic bag for protection.
  • Close up of box and skid #2. [1.5MB JPG] This shows how boxes are stacked with the labels facing out. Also note that the skid is solid wood and not assembled plywood or particle board. This adds strength for transport and storage. Pallets should be sealed and shrinkwrapped. Screws inside the box should be in a plastic bag for protection.
  • These two photos show the proper way to load Threaded Rod so we can unload it. It should be loaded horizontal and lengthwise. Tubes should be crated in groups of exactly twenty-five (25) tubes. Crates should be all wood and sealed. Banding may be added in the center to maintain security. Photo #1 [196k JPG] and #2 [172k JPG].
  • The correct pallet size is indicated on the original inquiry we sent you. Pallets must be solid wood and not assembled plywood or particle board construction. We will charge you US$100 for every pallet that must be repacked due to your failure to use the correct material or size pallet.

SAMPLE PACKING FOR OVERSEAS VENDORS
(TO MINNESOTA):

We have a number of pictures that are designed for our vendors. Each photo will open in its own window. If you are not a vendor or prospective vendor, you MUST NOT access these items.

  • This is how a box should be prepared. All boxes for Minnesota must be a plain WHITE box with no marks except for the warning on the top of box. This is a series of seven (7) images:
    1. Make Empty Box (PLAIN box) and insert Bag (228k)
    2. Same Box with Top View (232k)
    3. Fill The Box (416k)
    4. Seal the Bag (260k)
    5. Tape Box Shut (no staples or banding) [268k]
    6. Here is a PDF of the box before folding (56k) -- this does not show the warning marks.
    7. Here is a sample of the label for the box [52k]. Please note you should be careful because the same item will be on multiple POs. Please be sure you get the right PO marks on the right container.
  • Close up of top flap of box. This shows printing on top box flap. It's okay for this to be in black or red, but you may NOT use a sticker. [1.9MB JPG] The correct text for the top of the box is as follows: "When using any screw, nail, or any other fastener, safety glasses must always be worn. Do NOT put parts in mouth." On the bottom of the box in 9 point type, print "Made in XXXX" (replace XXXX with the country of origin).
  • Once the boxes are ready, put them on the pallet properly as shown in photo 1 (340K) and photo 2 (332k). Notice the side support. Afterwards, the pallet should be wrapped and NOT banded (or use plastic banding with our permission) as shown in photo 3 (300k) and photo 4 (300k).
  • This shows a properly loaded container so you can get the maximum number of cartons in each. Make sure the pallets can be unloaded under the lip of the top side of the container. You can also see the labels in the center of each box. [294k]
  • This is another properly loaded container. This one the pallets are side-loaded. That is acceptable as well. [314k]
  • This photo shows the last step. Placing a copy of the packing slip in the container [305k] and also a PDF of how to place it [40k]. We prefer you put the packing slip inside an envelope. A sample Packing Slip [236k] is here, and my comments are in red. Here is another sample [PDF/263k] with commentary attached.
  • Two shots of the special 4 x 4 pallets we request with seven slats each. Shot one and shot two. Pallet size 42" x 42" is indicated on the original inquiry we sent you. [172k each]
  • Here is a complete photo gallery of how to prepare a pallet for Minnesota and load it into the container will all steps covered.
